8 snipers going up against 8 tanks will have a really hard time if they make it at all. Artillery also doesn't have any bonus against them, so artillery will have a hard time to even damage a sniper hiding in the forest. Snipers are very effective against artillery aswell, mainly because of their high bonus in forests combined with the "Dug In"-skill. I think that this is as it should be as normal infantry are really vurnable to the heavy caliber that a sniper rifle fires. They have both a defensive and offensive bonus against light units. They are really effective against 2 units, and really ineffective against 2 other units. I don't see that letting these people attack without ever seeing the battle screen is such a bad deal - if anything, it helps us all to defend even better from such people, since they are likely to be even more sloppy in their attacking.I think that snipers are just perfect as they are. Boring, to my way of thinking, but enabled by the GBs that the game provides. There are those with cities on a dozen worlds who can't afford the time to play the game in what I (and maybe you) consider a 'proper way to play' and all they do is sling troops willy-nilly against every enemy and hope for the best, relying on massively-high attack bonuses and huge numbers of troops churned out by Alcatrazs on every world. maybe) but there are players who auto-battle every fight. Personally, like you, I doubt I would use it more than once a week (on the early stages of GE. Nobody is being forced to autobattle without having first moved a few troops.Įverybody is being given the option to autobattle without entering the battle screen if that is what they want to do. It makes no difference to how the battle will be calculated between going into the battle screen and immediately hitting "Auto" and hitting Auto from the army screen.
